Hard drive failure

#1 Post by c888a » Sun Oct 09, 2005 10:56 am

The 60GB hard drive of my T42p failed and IBM is sending me a new drive for replacement. Is the drive sent to me pre-formatted? If not, how do I format it? Thanks for response.

More than likely you will get a blank drive with a set of recovery CD.s
Then you have to send back the damaged one within 30 days.

if you want to use the recovery cds to restore you system, you do not have to format the new HDD.the rescue and recovery disc will do it,and restore you system to the factry setting.

Just received a brand new HD from IBM and like Monkey243 said, all I need is inserting recocery CDs into the notebook to rebuild the operating system, very straight forward and painless. I have to say, IBM's customer service is still top rated. I called them on Sat around midnight and received the HD on Tue, very responsive. I am satisfied.
