Intense hard disk activity!

I left the computer on and Screen Saver turned on after few minutes. and then I see the harddrive light activity is instensely running. Why? I don't really do anything on the computer.

Windows does some rearranging of files to improve boot times if the machine is idle for a while.

Hmm, so if I defrag my harddrive, wouldn't it defeat the purpose if windows does it themselves again? or it's a completely different process? I thought windows don't usually do a better job than third party software? I'm using O&O defrag currently, systembooster, and O&O Clevercache.

I prefer Norton but no matter how much you defrag sometimes WIndows will go into heavy hard drive activity. Happens on my desktop too. Windows is dynamic!
