new t41p screen issues

#1 Post by xlpro » Mon Oct 10, 2005 8:45 am

I just bought a T41p off Ebay from Premier PC Auctions. At the bottom of the screen (14" 1400x1050) there are 2 areas that greyish looking. I am thinking there is something behind the screen causing this but i don't know. Any ideas? Should I send back or is this normal? Thanks. Other than that it's a great machine, I love it!

dead pixels

Hi,

Thinkpads have ON (white/grey) or OFF (black) dead pixels. One pixel is like a small dot on the screen. If you see a big dot, there may a several dead pixels clubbed at the same place. If your TP is still in warranty, you can replace it with a new screen, if you have more than 5 dead pixels.

You can make a powerpoint slide with different back ground colours (plain) with red, black, white, green, blue, etc. Run a slide show and check the screen carefully once again. If you dont have MS office, create a powerpoint slide in some other machine. Install a powerpoint viewer utility (free...check google) in your TP and run the slide. YOu can still check big grey areas, if you dont feel that they are deal pixels.

regards,
Parthiban.
