Fn+F5 and Fn+F9 - no On Screen Display or just does nothing

#1 Post by theFirst » Mon Oct 10, 2005 11:49 pm

Hi all,

This has been driving me nuts this weekend. Fn+F5 just powers on/off bluetooth for me, with no On Screen Menu offering me a choice of the wireless profile to choose, even though I've put in the settings to have Fn+F5 pop up with a menu.

Fn+F9 doesn't work either. I've had it set so that pressing the key combo would stop the USB driver so I can pull out my USB key later. I press it, and nothing would happen.

Can anyone shed a light on this?...

Connie

p.s. - my machine is the X41T.

Interesting that you mention that you have key combos that do nothing...

On this reinstall, Fn-F12 doesn't work.

What handles the keyboard shortcuts on a ThinkPad? I'm suspecting that that's borked in the current version.

I had a the same sort of thing on my X31 a long while back. I think it was down to an IBM driver I got from Windows Update which messed it up. I stay clear of those now - it's best to use IBM's Software Installer to get new drivers.

Anyway, I reinstalled the following and it's been OK since:

On Screen Display (currently v3.30.01)
ThinkPad EasyEject Utility (v2.21)
ThinkPad Keyboard Customizer Utility (v1.3.02.0b)

Might be worth a try ? hkhalil

I have an X40. Fn+F5 works just fine but recently Fn+SpaceBar-(Magnifier) suddenly quit working. ?Any suggestions?

Thanx,

You could try and reinstall ThinkPad FullScreen Magnifier.

The version I have now is 1.15

Hello again,

This should be what you need, just make sure your model is listed on the page. Download and install:
