I got a factory refurb X22 from this place and was pretty pleased. The big bonus that you don't get from eBay is that it comes with a brand new real IBM battery. It also was also in very nice shape physically.

If I were you (or, heck, me and had researched the X series before getting this X21), I would get this one:

https://www.eritech.com/detail.php?item=2662-95U-

Pentium III-800 MHz (512KB), 128MB RAM, 20.0GB HDD, DVD/CD-RW and floppy Dock, 12.1 XGA(1024x768) TFT LCD, Modem, 10/100 Network Card, Li-Ion battery, Win XP Pro, Refurbished, 90 days warranty

All for $525. No integrated WiFi, but you can get a PC card for that.

You'll NEED more RAM. Go to Newegg, and get a 512MB PC133 SDRAM SODIMM. You can find 'em for $35.
Current: 365XD (120 MHz, 72 MiB, 6.4 GB, 4x CD-ROM, 10.4" TFT)
Past: T61p 15.0" QXGA, T60p 15.0" QXGA, X61 Tablet SXGA+, R51e 14.1" XGA, X21

144-pin, not 168-pin. They don't have 168-pin SODIMMs...
