which docking station for t43p?

#1 Post by hellicht » Tue Oct 11, 2005 12:46 pm

Hello everybody!

I would like to know if you could suggest which docking station is the best one for the thinkpad t43p. I need one where I could plug in the power cord, usb mouse, printer and the ethernet cable.

The cheapest one which I have seen is the ThinkPad Port Replicator II. But is it good enough?

Thx for help.

The port replicator II is good BUT it only has one USB port so you will need a USB hub for extra devices.

The mini dock has 4 USB ports. I personally would prefer the mini dock over the port replicator due to extra USB ports.

Consider also the solution of no docking...

I bought a wireless desktop (mouse + keyboard) that connect both devices through 1 usb port.
The beamer (it could be another screen) is bound to the vga port.

And that's it
I can work in my bed with a screen of lets say 70'' ;-)

Thx so far for your answers.
Does anybody own a Mini Dock or a Port Replicator II? I haven't found any good reviews about them.

My problem is also that I have never had a docking station before, that's why I don't really know which things are important and which are not.

I have just bought the Port Replicator II.
I will use PS/2 keyboard and mouse, so one USB does not really bother me that much. Probably will connect the printer to the printer port, and use the USB for iPod.

Will post a small review once I get it.
