How to configure a thinkpad _exactly_ as i want

#1 Post by Kohlsalat » Wed Oct 12, 2005 8:03 pm

Hi guys!!

After reading several tests and forum topics, I decided that a t43 notebook _would_ best fit my needs of all devices currently sold...

BUT: how can i configure a t43 notebook in the way I want it to be?

over the express stuff on the ibm page, i can only configure notebooks that approach my dream config more or less, but are not exactly what I want my ultimate dream machine from hell to be...

is there any possibility to get a formular in which i can choose every component (cpu, gfx-card, screen, etc) as i want it to be? ( like on the dell or hp homepages)

thx for replies, daniel

You can buy a chassis and all the parts and assemble it yourself. But this is in no way economical. It is the one way you can have it exactly the way you want.

Man I hear you! This has been the most frustrating purchase experience of my life. I wanted a 2 GHz T series, couldn't find it going through the normal route. Found a backdoor link from CNET where I could get a T42 2GHz, still didn't have all the options I wanted. Then discovered clicking on "See all models" or the Think Express link gave a few more configurations but not all the ones I wanted. Then after 2 WEEKS, I come across this link here on this site:

http://www.ibm.com/businesscenter/visa

It has the most options I've seen yet, and a discount:) I have no idea why IBM/Lenovo is making this so [censored] complicated. I wish you could just configure it soup to nuts like Dell (and I hate Dells!).

Have you looked in the tabook to see if there is a model reasonably close to what you are looking for? That won't give the CTO models, but you might get lucky...

There's a link in the FAQs, or just google ibm dodson sheets.
