Interesting Photoshop tests

I ran this test:

On my Dell Latitude D600 (Pentium M 1.6 GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB Toshiba 5400rpm):
CS - 1:58
CS2 - 2:34

On my workstation (P4 3.2GHz, 2GB RAM, Dual RAID):

CS - 1:12
CS2 - 58s

CS2 is a memory hog so it makes sense it ran faster than CS on my workstation but slower on my laptop.

For reference, decked out dual processor G5s were getting ~40s, a T43 got ~1:30.

I was a little surprised how little the differences were. Just goes to show price/performance really tapers off once you get in the upper end of things. Maybe I'll go with a lower configuration for my new laptop...

Post your times and config (CPU, RAM, HDD, Photoshop version)!!

it took 1:47 for my thinkpad...not bad I suppose...

So is the deal that DDR2 is not that big of a difference? (yet?)

While I'm waiting for my new Thinkpad to be delivered I can only report that my 20" iMac 1.8 ghz G5 runs this test in 63 seconds using CS.

2 minutes exactly on my t41p.. seems pretty bad compared to most laptops posted on that thread
