Hitachi 7K60 or 7K100 in T22 - do I need an adaptor? how to?

ppl of earth! :)

some time passed since I upgrade any harddrives... so my information might be outdated. my plan is to substitute the old HD in my T22 with a sleek and fast 7K60 or maybe a 7K100 since there are cheaper over here (113,- euro).

my plan was to install the hitachi via USB2-external box to my USB2-pcmcia-card and move the whole windows 2K system to the new drive. after that I would exchange the drives and try to boot up from the newly instaled HITACHI. i expect a severe boost in workflow and stability since my T22 encounters HD-bottlenecks quite often.

with this method I don´t need reinstall and I can always go back to "normal"

what do I have to respect in order to get things working? what if the K7100 is SATA? is it downward compatible to the EIDE of my T22?

and what software could do the trick of moving the complete W2K system from one 20GB drive to a 60GB drive (i don´t want partitions!!)

thanx for any help in advance!

over and out*

hmm..

not 'major boost' but definately will be a 'noticable boost'

don't buy a SATA driive for your T22

Ghost, Partition Magic can enlarge partitons. Because IBM's boot sector is customized you may end up doing the 'make a backup, restore a backup' method though. Restoring onto a larger partiton that you have prepared will not be an issue.

Got access to a desktop computer? Laptop drive to standard IDE adapters are available to the tune of less that 10$ US, for a pair, shipped.
