windows firewall

#1 Post by Dragonfly79 » Fri Oct 14, 2005 4:06 pm

I have a stupid question. My windows firewall is always turned off when I turn off my machine or hibernates it so that I have to enable it every time. Is there a way to set it to go on all the time, I've tried googling it but nothing.
thanks

Dragonfly,

Try Sygate 'Personal' firewall! It is free and it works fine on my T42. Make sure to turn 'OFF' Window's firewall.

That's a strange one, if you are running an AV with a firewall it may be disablin git during startup.

Had the same problem...I believe Access Connections is the culprit. Go into the details for your current connection, and under the "Security" tab there is a checkbox for "Protect my computer and network...(Windows Firewall)". This needs to be CHECKED to prevent AC from disabling the service upon startup/resume.

Benz,
thanks, ACcess Connections was the culprit. There was an options to disable firewall upon turning on or off and switching to a different access point. Thanks everyone..I love this place!!! :P It took me 2 weeks to try to find out this problem and thanks to the forum, I solved it in a day.
