can't get full screen on DOS shell

I can't get a full screen display (with alt-enter) of a DOS shell on my X41 (WinXP Tablet PC 2005 Edition). The entire screen goes to black and the shell remains centered ocupying a small portion of the screen.
Same happens with the BIOS setup screen if I bring it up on booting.

Couldn't find any diagnosis or solution to this problem after browsing this and another forums, IBM support site included.

Would appreciate your help !

in the bios setup select screen expand..
that should do it..
