AmiPro 3.01 loses important function under WIN2000

#1 Post by leoblob » Sat Oct 15, 2005 11:58 am

I have been using AmiPro 3.01 since "day one." It has survived well under the transition to WIN95, WIN98, and now to WIN2K... but with WIN2K, it has lost one key function that I use quite often: The ability to print Page 1 with paper from one tray, and the rest of the document with paper from a different tray. Under WIN3.1x and WIN9x, AmiPro gives you a choice in the printer dialog for this. Under WIN2K, the choices are still there, but they are grayed out. I suspect this is a WIN2K issue...??

I know this is quite obscure (and I've searched the internet pretty thoroughly)... but if anyone knows anything about it, I'd appreciate it.

The following may work for you. I posted this previously for a Lotus Approach user.

See the following article for how to enable compatibility mode in Windows 2000. On another Microsoft page I read that this information applies to SP4 as well as SP2 and SP3. The link:

EDIT: Sorry, I just realize you are the user I posted to previously.

I'm the one who feels embarassed, as I forgot to try running AmiPro in compatiblity mode until you reminded me here. However, with compability mode now enabled, the "bin options" under print options are still grayed out.

After poking around, I see than WIN2K allows the loading of printer drivers for multiple OS's (for networks where computers with different versions of Windows may send a job to the same printer). Even though I'm not on a network, I think I'll try to load WIN98 drivers (also) for my LJ4+ and see if I can make any headway with that.
