Which to get?

#1 Post by Thinkpadgranddad » Sat Oct 15, 2005 4:31 pm

I don't need to worry about portability!Or battery life at all.
My lappy will be replacing a desktop.I'am disabled and never go anywhere.
All I with my computer is:Burn CD's
Email
IM's
Watch DVD's
Word processing(Every now & then!)

Which lappy;will fit the bill:1.)T-23
2.)T-30
3.)T-40(like but outta my budget)

I'am working with about $700-$745.00

T40 or T23 is my suggestion. T30 runs the hot, power hog P4-M.

If you're not worried about portability, why not look at a cheap R-series laptop or a low-end Z60m? You should be able to find either one within your budget, and they'll probably be better for what you need than a T30 or T23. And you can get it new. :)

I'd second the recommendation for an R series.

I had an A31, which is somewhat similar. If you don't carry it to much, it's an excellent desktop replacement. The big disadvantage of the A, and now R series is that they are a bit heavy.

But since you said your not traveling with it... save the cash, and get more power. The weight likely doesn't impact you at all.

I don't know enough about the R 3x, 4x, 5x differences to say exactly.

Perhaps somone else here can give you a quick rundown on the differences.
