Catalyst5.10 driver for ATI mobility radeon 7500 (Powerplay)
Hi!
Found it here:
Catalyst 3.2 based driver for ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 (IBM OEM)
http://staff-www.uni-marburg.de/~schmitzr/ATIPOWPL.zip (22MB)
works well on my T40. No probs! Rotation, powerplay underclocking on AC, ect. available.
Ciao, troubadix

Hi,
Most catalysts work correctly in T4x thinkpads. I've tried up to version catalyst 5.6. You just have to use patje modder or one of those available catalyst modders so that they install correctly...

Depends. You might get some performance boost and resolved issues using later catalyst versions. Try something like Catalyst 5.1 or so.troubadix wrote:The edition shows more control features, but no extra performance, I guess.![]()

Hey Troubadix!
Is this driver based on the omega, ibm/lenovo, or ati release?
Have you tweaked something, if so, could you please describe what you did?

Hi!
@DaniWurf:
I took latest ATI Catalyst driver for Radeon and WinXP (and control center, unchanged)
https://support.ati.com/
modded it with patje's modding tool Vers.3
http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/
that would not make PowerPlay working in AC mode on ATImobRad7500, so we have to patch the .inf file values:
"DALRULE_USEOLDPOWERPLAYINTERFACE"=0
"DALRULE_USEOLDPOWERPLAYPROPERTYPAGE"=0
"DALRULE_ENABLESHOWACSLIDER"=1
"DALRULE_ENABLESHOWDCLOWSLIDER"=1
as mentioned in
http://thinkpad-forum.de/forum/viewtopi ... 3c608b6ba3
and install.
That's all

Really nice work! I had some minor issues (standby, hibernate) with the latest omegas so I tried your modded driver. Works absolutely flawless.

Fire GL 9000
Excuse a newbie question: Would these drivers work on Fire GL 9000 (T40p)? I´ve read somewhere that the Fire GL 9000 is just a "better" Mobility Radeon 9000. I´m willing to try the catalyst or whatever thats not the latest IBM/Lenovo; my videocards color resolution sticks to a 16bpp, and won´t change. So I´m using the 2 year old drivers from IBM.
Thanks!

I've a T42p.
Fan is constantly on @ ~3720rpm. The CPU is 53C hot and the GPU about 2-3 degrees hotter than the CPU almost all the time.
I'm not undervolting the CPU, nor the GPU.
I'm using the latest drivers from Lenovo for the 128MB FireGL T2:

Once I tried using the DHMod Tool to install the latest drivers from ATi, however, when I install those the screen flickers a lot and I cannot do anything apart than installing the Lenovo drivers.
I want to underclock my GPU. What's the answer?

Thanks for the info.
I properly uninstalled the old drivers and then installed the ones in your signature.
Now, how do I install ATi Control Panel, specially the section where you Turn On a external monitor, plugged in the S-Video port?

Hi!
I guess you
1. unzipped the pack to C:\ATI\SUPPORT\...
2. had run C:\ATI\SUPPORT\5-10_xp-2k_dd_27256\setup.exe (dd for device driver) to install the driver.
Now you have to run
C:\ATI\SUPPORT\5-10_xp-2k_cp_27256\setup.exe
(cp for controlpanel) to install the control panel.
You will find the ATI symbol in systray, right klick....check the menues!
For using an external monitor at S-VHS port, powerup the monitor, connect to thinkpad, THEN boot your thinkpad, go to control panel.
Any probs?
btw I change the readme.txt to:

Yes, unfortunately I have another problem:
My LCD screen flickers, I don't know how to explain, there's certain movement as if the pixels came on and off very repeteadly. I've installed the 1400x1050 pixel LCD panel but the problem is still there, I have 60Hz as the monitor refresh rate.
With the original drivers I didn't have that problem, but I wonder If this could be fixed.

Hi, I can't seem to get Powerplay to underclock the GPU at AC or battery.. I am using a Thinkpad A31 with an ATI Mobility Radeon 7500/32MB (the machine and card are 4 years old). I don't play games, but my GPU is hotter than CPU usually and GPU has no fan, so the system keeps my CPU fan running because the max system temperature (GPU) isn't getting cooler (ahh..
I used Troubadix's catalyst 5.10 driver mod package (nice job!), and everything seems to work fine but I see no ATI clock/memory frequency reduction in AC or in battery mode, as reported by running NHC prerelease-04 with Powerplay turned on in NHC. (If I turn off Powerplay in NHC, I can manually change the clock/mem frequency in NHC).
Besides in NHC, I can't find anywhere on the control panels to turn on/off or configure Powerplay.. I uninstalled my old driver, then ran catinstaller, then dd, then cp and all seemed to go ok.
Can anyone help? Am I missing the point of how Powerplay is to be used?
Thanks,
Milos
P.S. Below is what I see in the Radeon driver options (no tab for Powerplay -- is this what's supposed to happen?)

Yes, I think I uninstalled the old panel. I did the following:benottomex wrote:Did you uninstalled the previous Control Panel from the original IBM driver ?
1) uninstalled the IBM ATI driver using the ThinkVantage Software Installer, and also uninstalled the IBM driver itself manually (don't know if that also uninstalled the IBM control panel but I think so)
2) I followed Troubadix's instructions and...
- ran the cat-installer in his package (which supposedly uninstalls all previous ATI stuff anyway) -- so I hopefully killed all ATI stuff now 3 times over
- ran the driver install in his package
- ran the control panel install in his package
Anything I'm missing? Thanks,
Milos

@Milos:
maybe your chip is not yet fully supported by my package, just try the registry hack:

@troubadix: Just adding the keys to the registry didn't change anything, so I removed them again and tried to see what's in the patch .reg file you sent. Why are there 7 keys being added with the same data, and why is the very first entry different? I.e. the first key is given two different data sets:troubadix wrote:maybe your chip is not yet fully supported by my package, just try the registry hack:

- "DALRULE_USEOLDPOWERPLAYINTERFACE"=dword:00000001
"DALRULE_USEOLDPOWERPLAYPROPERTYPAGE"=dword:00000000
"DALRULE_ENABLESHOWDCLOWSLIDER"=dword:00000001
"DALRULE_ENABLESHOWACSLIDER"=dword:00000001
I am also a bit confused by the key numbers, e.g. the first "{3CC1BF7C-4A06-40C8-BD99-72C72D96D13F}" in your file, etc. In my registry, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Video\, there are already 6 keys, none with the same numbers as the ones you sent. Three of the keys that I already have contain the kind of entries named like DALRULE.. etc., and have similar copies of values. These keys on my machine are named {1AA88859-EF82-4E16-AFF6-1BAFF503C712}, {492375E0-9890-4072-AF42-9097B364E124} and {713FA526-BA1C-49C8-A236-A886CCF481A9}, and they all have all four "DAL.." entries above, but their values differ.
Now, the first and last of the keys above has (0,0,1,1) values under both \0000 and \0001 "subfolder", while the middle key has (1,1,1,0) in both \0000 and \0001 subfolder. What to do?
If you consistently had the same values under all keys, I'd just change the second key. But since they differ, I have to ask what each key does, how I find which key applies to what (whether they are all needed), and why the values (specifically "DALRULE_USEOLDPOWERPLAYINTERFACE") don't have the same value everywhere in your patch. Finally, do I need to add the new keys you sent, or just change the values in my own existing keys? Not sure which of these is actually being used (or if all are..).
Sorry for the long post, help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!!
Milos
