570 Screen Angle

#1 Post by fromage » Sun Oct 16, 2005 3:15 pm

I've got a standard Thinkpad 570 which has recently developed a very annoying problem!

The screen of the thinkpad works when the laptop is opened slightly (i.e. at a small angle) but when you open it more (like about 50°) then the screen just goes off. Close it a bit, and it comes back on.

I think the only explaination for this is that there's something wrong with the connecting cable bit that goes from the screen to the motherboard.

Only thing is, I can't get the keyboard off to see underneath. Can anyone help?

Yep, it is the cable. There are 3-4 screws on the bottom to release the keyboard (read the manual, IBM download).
Rest is a piece of cake...

Ok thanks for the reply. I'm downloading the manual, I'll give it a shot and let you know how I get on.
