Strange R31 problem, System cuts me short 8MB of ram??

Hey All.

I have an R31 P3 1.13GHz 30GB. 2625 (i think)
The funny thing is that no matter how much ram I add. it cut's me 8MB
for example If i had a 256MB 16chip PC133 SO dimm in it, and I got 248.
I then added a 256MB PC133 8 chip so dimm. and got 504, I'm guessing that the 8MB is reserved for something else, let's say graphics? is this common?
any comments would be great.

You must be using integrated graphics. The graphics card takes out a small chunk of the memory (shared memory). Dedicated graphics cards have their own memory.

8MB is for the integrated intel video card

not a big deal if you ask me
