Replacement parts questions (T42)

#1 Post by Troels » Mon Oct 17, 2005 11:21 am

Hi,
When ordering a replacement keyboard for a 15" T4X laptop, are trackpoint caps also included when buying the keyboard, or must these be ordered seperately ?

If i need a new lid (the back of the laptop screen) - Is there a replacement part and if so - what is the FRU number for this (15")? (I can't find it)

Can't say about the TrackPoint Caps, but I would order some when you make your next order for other stuff as I believe IBM has a standard minimum $15 shipping charge (I could be wrong, as it's been awhile since I last placed an order).

Thanks, i'm about to order a replacement keyboard, so i'll order the caps anyway. They aren't that expensive either. I assume they come in three sizes - so three per caps order ?
LCD cover is also quite reasonably priced. :)

the replacement keyboards include only one Trackpoint cap (the new standard one that is installed when you buy a new ThinkPad). definitely order as many things as possible, such as the screw kit (which is a bargain) and a travel bezel. the shipping charge is steep unless you spread it out across several items.

indeed, they keyboard will come with 1 and 4 screws. you can order the trackpoint caps (4) separately.

Lenovo has been running a free shipping special for quite a while now. I ordered handful of Trackpoint caps and a HDD adapter for the drive bay in July using it.
