A22P Win XP pro, with svcpk1 won't shut down

#1 Post by jerry cudmore » Sun Jul 04, 2004 7:13 pm

I hav a A22p using xp pro with svc pk1.

This is my spare laptop. I am sure this used to shut down.

What happens is xp says shutting down and saving your user settings, but the blue screen stays. I wait a while and finally hold the on-off button until it shuts off. Startup is normal after that.

I tried updating bios, removing all programs starting up and running. Installed lates ACPI files from IBM.

I looked on the MS XP site, but anything they have for this is not ACPI related.

Tried a recovery of win 98 and it works fine.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

A30 doing same thing

I have a similar problem on an A30 with XP Pro. Often, it will not
shut off. It stays at the blue screen. I've searched
for viruses and spyware. Sometimes it shuts down; sometimes
it does not.

Yes, at first that is what happened. Now it does it all the time.

I updated the bios but no help.

I think it's a registry key that is not telling the acpi system to shut down.

I reinstalled the IBM inf files for acpi, but that did not help either.
