T42 in Heat

#1 Post by T23_Owner » Sun Jul 04, 2004 11:28 pm

I have heard from people that the T42 and T41 don't generate any heat on the bottom of the laptop. Is this really true? How does the T42 compare to the T41 since it uses the lowere power processore? I have a T23 and it blows hot air out of the left vent like a hair dryer also the bottom gets kind of hot. I might be getting the 2373-KTU and it has the 2ghz Dothan so I was wondering how hot it gets. Thanks.

In casual use, none of the T4x machines will get hot. However, if you are running CPU and/or GPU intensive applications the machine will get hot.

In my experience, the wireless card gets the hottest (area directly under the touchpad).
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

Really? The wireless card? I have never heard that. Is it hot on top on the touchpad or under the computer? Is it really hot or just warm?

If you leave the power saving feature on adaptive, the computer will usually stay cool unless you're doing something CPU intensive. However, if you set it to maximum performance, it will get hot and will start blowing out hot air as well. I haven't really felt my wireless card getting hot.
