PC3200 memory in T41p/T42p ?

#1 Post by andrey » Thu Oct 20, 2005 12:10 pm

Does anyone know if PC3200 memory will work in T41p/T42p machine? The official specs are PC2700, but coming from desktop land, shouldn't PC3200 just slow down and work as PC2700?

Thanks!

DDR 2 is diffrent and will not work. Any speed DDR will work but anything faster than PC2700 (333 Mhz) is kind of a waste as the memory is only going to run at PC2700 speed.

yes PC3200 SODIMM works on T41/T42 but @ PC2700 (333 Mhz) speed.
you might gain better timings running PC3200 at PC2700, maybe CAS 2-3-3-6 :P

that is REALLY not a good idea, ddr uses 2.5v while ddr2 uses 1.5v. I see big kaboome if you try that.

i'm not sure about laptops, but DDR2 memory and DDR are differnet number of pins and have the notch in a different place.
