X40's wireless PCI-card

#1 Post by 6MH » Sat Oct 22, 2005 4:00 am

I heard there is a kind of wireless card support 108M, the FRU number is FRU-93P4262, mine is a 802.11g, I want to replaced it in order to work with my NETGEAR 108M wireless router, I want to know is it possible to buy such a item and change it myself? Is there any side effect? Thanks

the atheros based IBM mini-PCI cards support 108mbit wifi.

beware though that most 108mbit wifi channel bonds and totally screws with any "normal" access points in the area.

The 108 Mb WiFi by Atheros works by using two channels, IIRC. However, that can cause interference on the remaining channels, from what I've heard.
