Recovery Disk Won't Complete

#1 Post by RogerPodacter » Sun Oct 23, 2005 8:24 pm

I went to try to make a set of recovery disks today, but the computer rebooted within the first minute when i just started the process. No CD was even created or started; just the "image" was being created or whatever. But now when i click on the recovery cd option, i get a message saying the following:

"Resources required by this application are already in use. Please retry after the other application completes."

Does this mean that i am foreve unable to make my set of recovery disks? Because i understand that only one set is allowed to be made. But surely the computer must be able to know that no cds were ever burnt. I have tried rebooting my machine multiple times, and even did a system restore to no avail. Has anyone experienced this problem before? I bought the laptop last year so if i call IBM they will try to sell them to me, which is not fair considering i am allowed my 1 free copy as a thinkpad owner. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I'm not sure of the answer to your technical issue, but I wouldn't be so sure IBM support won't help you if you are still under warranty. You probably just need to explain what happened as you have here, and they just might agree to send a set of free recovery disks if they can't help you figure out how to create your own set. It's at least worth a try.
