how to resize the partition on 600x

#1 Post by mechano » Mon Oct 24, 2005 6:51 am

I am running win2k on my 600x happly, however the 2GB drive C is not enough for 2K altough I install all other software to drive D.
When I tried to resize the C partition with "PowerQuest(R) PartitionMagic(R) Version 8.0" and "Partition Manager 7.0" it doesn't seem to work.
Even I can not convert my drive C from FAT16 to FAT32 just to gain a litte more space.

Thanks for anyhelp, someone must have had a similar problem.

Apologies if this is obvious: You need to start by reducing the size of the other partition (D:) before you can expand the one you want to expand. Depending on the software you use, you may also need to reduce the size of the "Extended partition" that probably contains your drive D: When you've done that and freed some space, then you can expand drive C:

Again, apologies if you know this already - I've come across other people who didn't.

One detail: FAT16 partitions can only be as large as 2GB. You will have to convert to FAT32 either before or during the resize.
