A21m card bus slot not working

Have a refurbished one. Nothing happens when I put in wireless card. Drivers seem to be ok. When I use the ibm utility it shows the PCMCIA slot but the button is greyed out and can't be changed. Used the pc doctor and the slot passes the test. My guess is that I am just missing something but I don't know what it is. Any help would be most appreciated.
