Runing Dual monitors with T-series (w/o thinkpad LCD)

#1 Post by boardmonger » Mon Jul 05, 2004 2:37 pm

I have been thinking about this a fair amount and I hope someone can help with my question. I know in a desktop system you can run an AGP and PCI video cards and run multi-monitor support.

I am wondering if I buy a Dock II and install a PCI video card if you can still use the standard VGA out on the dock via the laptop AGP and the VGA out on the PCI card allowing 2 external monitors for dual display.

Or if anyone knows of a good dual head PCI card that allows multi-monitor support (DVI preferred) that I could use as a substitute card in the Dock II. Please let me know!

I am going to buy a 14” T42 sometime this summer as a desktop replacement and I like the smaller form factor of the 14” screen, but I am hoping to be able to run Dual 17" LCDs on it when I am working for software development for work. So please post any ideas or personal experience with multi-monitors you might have.

Thanks!

PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, please feel free to move if it needs to be posted elsewhere.

I think they make the Matrox G400 in PCI flavor. Not sure though. It's DVI/DSUB input I think though, but I can't remember.
