Totally dead T30 ...
Totally dead T30 ...
Hi all,
Whilst using my T30 with mains attached, the machine just powered itself off.
All attempts to power on now fail.
If I have the battery installed but no mains attachment I see no lights on the unit at all, not even the green battery indicator.
If I have the battery installed with main power I get the green battery indicator but the machine will not power up. When I press the power on button the green battery light goes off for about 5 seconds and then re-appears. The fan doesn't run and no other lights appear on the unit.
Duff battery causing problems, something more serious with the power supply or the system board ?
Machine is 2.5 years old.
Thanks,
Ashley.

I called IBM and a technician told me to disconnect the laptop from the AC, take out the battery, and then press then power button 10 times. On the 10th time, if I remember correctly, hold it on for 30 seconds. Replace battery and connect to the AC, and try to turn on the computer. It worked in my case, and didn't have any more problems of the sort. I think it had to do with some capacitor being saturated or something similar. Try and see if it helps. "

Worked for me!
The power button tapping worked for my X31 that had the same problem.
