t-22 shuts off when certain keys pressed
hi! i just got a used t22 and it shuts off when i press the left side alt button, the g, the h, esc, ', and up arrow. i replaced the keyboard (which was in really bad shape- had missing buttons and some melted keys from cigarette burns as well as being very dirty) i was so sure it was the keyboard because of the condition of it- everything else seems fine- i am running windows xp and have all the current drivers, and the hard drive is new. has anyone else experienced this? it is otherwise working very well and i am very happy with it for the price i paid for it, but copying and pasting my g's and h's is really getting old.....
resistance is futile
Just a throught, but it may be that your keyboard isn't completely seated and when you press on those keys it's jiggling the connnector and breaking the connection to the motherboard. I seem to remember that my T22 wouldn't power on if the keyboard was not seated right. Only problem with my theory is that the keys are located all over the keyboard.
I also recall that some of T2x were prone to having the CPU become loose, not sure if it's the T22 or not. You could also reseat the CPU (and replace the heatsink compound with Arctic Silver while you're at it). You can remove the fan and CPU with only the keyboard removed.
Sorry not to have more concrete ideas.

On second thoughts, perhaps there could be some gunk in the connecting socket?
When you say "shuts off" do you mean it instantly loses power? or goes into standby? or hibernates? or initiates the windows shut down procedure?
Try to see if its a hardware or software problem:
What OS are you using? Does it happen in every application?
What happens if you boot to DOS. If you hit the keys at the dos prompt, does the TP turn off?
What happens if you go into the bios when you boot. If you hit the keys at the BIOS screens, does the TP turn off?
Good luck, let us know.

when i got it it did not have an operating system, but it did it then (when i checked out the bios). i am running windows (ugh)xp (i am considering double booting with linux). when i popped the keyboard out i did not see anything in the socket, everything seemed superficial. it happenes no matter what i am doing- in bios, in windows, everywhere. it does not initiate anything- it just shuts off, and it appears that all power is cut, none of the lights stay on.
