Do you clean install OS or use factory setting?

I have been pondering why so many people are having problems with hardware / driver issues.

I clean install every system that I get with Windows OS then install ethernet driver, then use software installer to automatically install latest drivers, BIOS, etc. I never had any issues with drivers so far with all Thinkpads that I have owned.

So I want to see if problems arise more using factory settings or not.

Where I live we can get systems without any pre-installed OS or software. Saves quite a bit of money. And then I install our corporate licensed software onto them.
