600e 2645-3AU Bios upgrade without a floppy drive.

#1 Post by CaptJack » Fri Oct 28, 2005 8:37 am

I just inherited a 600E 2645-3AU with Windows 2000 on it.
I would like to upgrade it to XP. But need to upgrade the BIOS first.
The current BIOS is INET25WW (1.05)

Any ideas on how I can do this without a floppy drive.
I do have a USB flopppy but can not boot to it.

Thanks for your help. :P

Get a floppy drive.</seriously>

Really, a floppy drive is immensely useful, and not expensive.

A floppy from many different ThinkPads will work. I know my 600X floppy works on the 600, 600E, 560* and 570*, and I think it will work on 760* and 770* too.

One other option is to make a bootable CD from the floppy and use that. I think there are some threads on that here.
