Exploring trade, my T42p for X3*
I have a T42p which I really love, but as my work has recently become EXTREMELY mobile, schlepping even the lightweight T42p through a few courtrooms and all over Los Angeles on a daily basis has made me dream of something smaller and lighter.
Not sure if I want to do this yet, but if anyone has an X31 or X32 and is interested in a swap for a T42p, drop me a PM.
My T42p is a GVU model, with Samsung panel (no dead pixels) and Thai keyboard. It has the plain (no touchpad) palmrest, but I kept the original (with palmrest) as well and will include it. I also have an extra Thai keyboard (brand new) that I bought really cheap on this list (couldn't pass up the price in the same buy as the plain palmrest).
I also have a DVD-R (the newer one, UJ 822) that burns to +R and +RW as well as the usual - and RAM formats.
1.5GHz of RAM though may take some out depending on the X31 or X32 I trade for.
60GB 7200 RPM drive (7K60), 128MB FireGL card, 9 cell, 6 cell AND ultrabay slim batteries.
IBM (Atheros) a/b/g Wireless and Bluetooth.
Everything is in immaculate condition, and was purchased from Bill about six-months-ago. IBM warranty for another 2 1/5 years.
Again, I am extremely happy with this machine and am just thinking about this. I will probably do it for the right trade, but won't do it for any lowball offers. I'm not desperate as my PowerBook is small and light for court, just can't run my Windows-only calendar and billing programs.
Let me know what you have.
Andrew

I don't know much about the X40 series. I care about good system performance and need the ability to use a large hard drive. If the X40 can satisfy those requirements it could work. If it doesn't take a large drive, then still possible, but would need some $$ as part of the deal to cover a small external drive.

The X40 is only 1.2GHz and appears to have many complaints about clicking drives (and non-upgradeable size).
I think I'd prefer to stay with an X31 or X32.
Thanks anyway.
