Source for T23 mobo? Beeps of Death..

#1 Post by skygodtj » Sat Oct 29, 2005 11:48 am

Hi all,

I picked up a have a T23 w/ smashed LCD that was suppoesed to work otherwise, off eBay, but on POST I get the 1-3-3-1 beeps of death, (DIMM, mobo). Well, it's not the DIMMS(replaced) so I'm guessing its the system board. I also have a T21 that apparently wont power the backlight and I need a mobo for that one too.

..Anyone know where to get a working board. eBay has a list of 'working' pulls, but I'm getting gun-shy...

You could someone like ITXchange .. they generally have oodles of hardware, and they are an affiliated reseller for IBM/LENOVO.

Try AbsoluteRaleigh....they've been really good for me and my fleet of TP's at my work. http://www.absoluteraleigh.com/ Call them and ask for Len and tell him that David in Tennessee sent you. He'll know who you're talking about. Good luck!

Did you use PC133 in the T23? They will not work w/ PC100 and will produce that beep sequence.

The T21s usually have a bad LCD cable causing the backlickght to stay black, but it could be the board...

Thanks for all of your references Dave, you're a big help. =)

We get $179 for the T23 boards. Some people think it is too high, some think it is fantastic, we think it is reasonable and they move along pretty fast, so that's where they are. They pop up on ePray for around 100 bucks on occasion, too...

I goofed on this one... found the RAM I was using was the PC100 flavor, swapped it with PC133 and it booted fine.. my bad.

After swapping the T21's LCD to a T22(and it worked) I forgot to do the second part of the swap, the T22's LCD into the T21, where I would have discovered the video cable was bad (but not before I bought another T21 board).

Got PC133 DIMMs for the T23, (works), and replaced the vid cable in the T21, it works, so I'm set for now. Thanks for the help all!
