WTB Used Hitachi 40GB 5400rpm drive

#1 Post by ssriniva » Sun Oct 30, 2005 4:03 pm

Looking for a used Hitachi 40GB 5400rpm drive in working condition.
Will pay cash or can offer original IBM Recovery CD set for T40/T40p as partial payment.

You can get a new one at

for $72 delivered. How much cash are you willing to pay?

Yes I am aware of that - I could probably doe better on ebay.
I need the drive to archive non critical data - so it is not going to see extensive use - just a backup probably once a fortnight.
I am looking to spend ~$50 shipped.

If you can wait 3 week or so, I'll have a brand-new one to sell for $60 shipped. I just ordered an X32 that comes with a Hitachi 5400 RPM 40GB drive, which will be pulled right out in favor of an 80 GB 7200 RPM drive.

Thanks for the offer Andrew but I ended up doing what you are planning - bought a new T43 and swapped the 40GB drive for a 7K60.
Problem solved!
