#1 Post by jimmykwh » Tue Jul 06, 2004 3:38 am

Hi,

Is there anyone facing a slow network connection on R51 which using Intel PRO/1000 MT? I face this problem before on the T41 model and I thought its fine until I use it. Is there anyone know how to boost the network connection faster. currently my network is 10/100 BASE T. :x

Well, you won't get gigabit speeds on a 10/100 network. And the fastest you're likely to see will be around 50-70Mbps (the rest is overhead bandwidth) which translates into about 6-8MBps (in terms of filesize on your computers). Have you tested the file transfer speed or does it just "seem"slow?

You could have a vpn / dialer / network client that is causing you problems, or you might be plugging into an old hub / router. If there's a firmware update for the device you're connecting to, apply it.
