Reasonable price for an X31? Secondhand.

#1 Post by RS_003 » Mon Oct 31, 2005 4:12 am

Hello,

I can buy an IBM X31 (warranty till September 2007)

DETAILS:
-Model: ThinkPad X31 Type 2672 - CBG
- Weight : 3.6 lb !!!! (ultra light)
-Pentium M 1.4Ghz
-Centrino Mobile Technology
-Memory 512Mb
- DVD player (in docking station)
-Screen size (1024x768) TFT LCD
-Hard Drive 40 Gb
-One Firewire / IEEE 1394 port
-Intenal Ethernet LAN Adapter / 1GB Intel, RJ-45 with 2 LEDs -Internal Wireless WiFi 802.11b Intel Pro -Compactflash slot Type II (5mm thick) -Two USB 2.0 (One on right side, one in back).
-Infrared port
-Audio line in, audio line out, and microphone in ports -Modem 56K -One DB-15 external display port (to hook up a proyector or monitor) , -One LPT (parallel) port.
-PCMCIA slot
-All-voltage Charger
-Li-Ion battery
-IBM Security chip

Software (Licensed):
-Windows Professional Edition
-Office Professional 2003
The docking station (UltraBase) has:
-DVD ROM combo drive.
-Replicated port plus....
-One Serial port
-PS2 port for external mouse/keyboard
-Security slot
-"Eject" button to undock
-Space for an additional battery

Condition: New ( screen is perfect, slight user marks … not extreme)

The man asks 850 euro.

Is this a good price? I think so, because here in Holland a new X31 with 256mb and a 1.5Ghz p-m costs around 1650 euros new (http://www.acesdirect.nl/redir.php3?c_i ... ref=kelkoo )

What do you think?
The battery still lasts 2.5 / 3 hours he told me, and he sounds trustworthy.

And I really would like an X31 over my current T1XP since it has such a sucky touchpad, where the IBM has the best keyboard and trackpoint ever :P

(you can see I love IBM’s :+ or should I say … Lenovo’s :D )

I am now in the Netherlands and bought a better-specced X31 for 600 Euros, without the Ultrabase. However, I believe I was veey lucky. As for your case, the price is not bad at all, but I would also give Ebay a try as there are several German shops that will sell you a better-specced X31 (with BT and 1.6 P-M) for around 1000 Euros, brand new. If however the one you found is in new condition, price is not bad.
760XL, 560, 560E, 570, 600, 600E, 600X, T20, T21, T23, T40, T41p, T42, X20, X23, X24, X31, X60s, X60T, X200s. I should *really* get a cheaper hobby...

And it was not stolen?

Ah well, it’s to late now anyway :)
I am receiving it within 30 minutes from now.

But thanks for your advice, I also looked to those German shops, and I came around 1300/ 1400 euros for idd topspecded X31's ... but now I can check the screen for deadpixels and stuff, and a docking station also costs around 150 euros new.

Plus I get a Free laptop bag.

So it is a reasonable deal according to you?

Btw, you are native Dutch or can you speak Dutch? :)
And please let me know where you got those 600 euro X31’s :P
