Is noise on standby normal?

#1 Post by jhonyl » Mon Oct 31, 2005 6:35 pm

Hi,

I had put my ear on my laptop when it was in standby, and I could hear a "bip bip bip" noise like the busy telephone sound when my ear was behined the trackpad. I then plugged in the AC addapter, and the sound was much lower. I repeated the process again to see if the results are the same, and they were. I wonder if this sound is normal, so please check yours and reply to the poll.

Note: In my case the sound is strong when unplugged. It seems to originate from under the TrackPad, but on the buttom of the laptop's side.

I believe it's normal. One of my friends has an apple powerbook and it has the same kind of noise as my T40...
