Problems with T42 regarding battery life/ wireless connect

Hi,

I have a T42 2378ETU with a 1.5 gig processor and like 700 RAM. It was working really well before, with batter life in the 4 hours range. It suddenly now gets battery life in like the 2 hours range at most. It feels hotter to touch too. I have nortan internet security running always. I dont get why its become so hot. Anything I can do to fix this?

Also, I am concerned about my wireless connection. It says "not connected" and has a red X going through the wireless connect icon, yet I will be online using the wireless connection as it does that. However, since this started happening, it has not been connecting automactically and it disconnects frequently after a few minutes. Then i have to reset the connection.

THe only thing i did differently was spend a few days in the library and use the wireless connection available there, which worked flawlessly I think. It at least was connected when it said it was connected. How can i fix this?
