almost silent T43!

#1 Post by ddutta » Wed Nov 02, 2005 8:52 pm

I just got my new CTO T43 2668AJU and I found a way to make my T43 silent. Here is what I did and its repeatable.

* Start with the battery. Fan goes down thanks to the fan control settings.
* Connect the AC. CPU speed jumps to 2G but the fan is almost silent.
* It comes back on if I run some intensive apps for a few minutes .... then I pull the plug again and repeat the process ....

This means I can shut the T43 up in a silent library.

This 2668AJU wasnt available till beginning september ... FYI.

Why are you running on AC in a library anyway, that's what the battery is for.

What are your temps and power settings? This doesn't work for me.

If you install a utility like RMClock, you can adjust the CPU frequency when running AC, to be equal to the CPU frequency, running battery.
That's what I do, and my fan is very hesitant to start.
If you start anything intensive, the CPU will go full throttle in a matter of nanoseconds.

Config for AC adaptor:

CPU: max freq (2G)
Fan sound level is 5/7
System temp is 5/7

I dont believe this! The T43 lets you adjust system temperature.

I havent measured the temperatures as I am still in the process of installing all my progs. Then I can stress test it and take the temperature readings.

ddutta,

The base warranty of 2669AJU is 3year, right? I can not find the information from the website. Thank you.
