What does this mean? The X3x is dead. However, it will get a worthy replacement. The X60t (pure speculation on the name) will have a 1.8" drive, a single core LV Yonah, and a widescreen option. The X60m (again, speculation) will be the true X32 successor. The article wrote:The X60 aspect, can have two editions, substitution now X4X and X3X, substitutes X4X the edition will be able to use LV (low voltage) YONAH, will consider the battery cruise duration and will give off heat the question, the estimate is single core (single core), conformity chip, embarkation tradition 4:3 screen, or 12.1, the hard disk will be 1.8 inches, about weight 1.2KG.
Substitutes for X3X the edition is NORMAL edition YONAH, the estimate or single core, the conformity chip, the embarkation tradition 4:3 screen, or 12.1, the hard disk is 2.5 inches, the 5400RPM start, the connection is unclear, the estimate is SATA150, the weight unknown, regarding the beginning of next year notebook market, generally speaking thinkpad sorrow multi- Yu Xi.

Seems like the writer is guessing like the rest of us. Nothing I havent heard speculation on before. Actually I don't see where major changes are needed (or desired) for the X's. Keep up with progress by upgrading the chipsets as they become available in sufficient quanity as to not make early adapters wait 3 months for their orders, and stick an updated video card in the X3-series to replace the one that was outdated in 2003. Other features might be nice (built-in optical, firewire in X4's, etc.), but I'm not willing to completely change platforms to get them.

first of all
I wonder the SATA Hard drive spec, especially in X series.
in fact, I believe in T series, SATA will be highly possible, since Z60m/t is using
SATA hard drive of Hitachi/Toshiba.
but in X series.....or R series.... ??? I do not know.
Since PATA is still a little cheaper/more popular
and since PATA still consumes a little less power. (refer to Hitach web site)
I believe there is always room for PATA in Thinkpad products.
Secondly
From the strategy of Intel, single core Yonah will only means NO improvement of
dothan CPU. I really doubt Intel/Thinkpad will do this strange things to promote
the new generation of X series.
and the PIN layout is different between Dothan and Yonah....There is not a great chance
to use new CPU in past old series, such as T4 or R5...
It is not easy to explain to users that 65nm is different from 90nm
and It is not easy either to talk about smart cache management in single core CPU.
or to talk about the heat / temperture.
(Anyone see any info about temperature from the Notebook Ads. not from a user review..... ?)
I strongly believe there is a market in the SINGLE CORE Yonah
but,, I just doubt whether it is in a main-stream X series.
in fact, personally, I m looking forward the Single Core Yonah.
because I do think we need too many calculating power in Ultra portable.
it is not necessary to go to dual-core era in ultra-portable notebook
but it is always easier for notebook makers to promote the most advanced technology.
(cache sharing in dual-core CPU is an interesting concept, and useful , I believe)
Anyway, I suggest all of us just roughly read the reports.
There is at least 1-2 quarters time period to wait for the next generation of X series.
