The rarest upgrade?

#1 Post by epbrown » Thu Nov 03, 2005 11:53 pm

I recently bid on and won a NIB* IBM TV Tuner Pack on eBay. This fits into the floppy bay on a 760 or older ThinkPad and lets you watch tv. I don't have a laptop it works in (yet) but thought it was cool back in the day. It was also insanely expensive, iirc, so seeing a new one for $30 was too good a bargain for an old techie to resist.

This got me to thinking about other accessories/upgrades that IBM offered but that few of us have ever seen. Do any others come to mind?

The 750 series had a CDPD modem available. Never saw one.

I don't imagine it will be useful any more, and your TV tuner only has a couple years left before the analog channels go away.

I remember the CDPD modem option, but never saw one either. I could swear there was something similar for the 760 as well.
