HTS721060G9AT00 (60 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/100)

having now successfully cloned a couple T40's onto new Hitachi 60Gb/7200rpm drives it's nice to note the performace pickup especially in development application which need drive workspace (and I routinely have 2gigs of Ram on my Thinkpads)

Any observation about using the 80Gb or 100Gb drives?

Only note I have is that I "hear" a small amount of drive noise which I didn't have on my original 5400rpm drive(s)

It is only a tad higher noise on 7200rpm drives but if you move large amounts of data (video, pst files or drive images) it is well worth it. For most other applications, the performance difference is not noticeable.

I am deciding what to have as a main disk, the 60GB 7200rpm or the 120GB 5500rpm... decisions, decisions....
X220t IPS but but a bit unhappy with it
T60p 2007-93U 1600x1200 IPS (T42p is an overall better machine though. Lack of new IPS Thinkpads keeps me buying these older models!)
T42p 2373-KXU 1600x1200 IPS (The best ever!!)
A20p 2629-6UU 1400x1050 (My first Thinkpad!)

If you guys give me a week or two, I'll have a comprehensive review of....just about every 2.5" drive out there. 4200RPM to 7200RPM, all the way up to 120GB. :)
Have used just about every ThinkPad since the T42 days...

Great! I am curious to know whether the Seagate 7200rpm 100GB is better than the 7K100 100GB.

Well sheesh, if all you want to know is that then take a look at my head to head:

That has just the 7K100 & 7200.1; the full out roundup has a lot more drives and more tests!!
