Hey gang, I just got an A31 (2652-M4U) here's what I wanna do, just wanna make sure it'll work before I plunk down the change...
1. Max Ram, lenovo site says max 1g, just wondering newer bios revs have bumped this up to 2g yet? I was planning to get some Cosair ValueSelect chips from newegg (PC2100 200pin DDR SODIMM).
2. Bigger drive, thinking in the 100gig 7200rpm neighborhood, will the bios support this?
3. It doesn't have wireless or Bluetooth, I'd like to at least add bluetooth. I need to research linux support for the wireless adapter, but want a tri band, a/b/g... HOw do I find the FRUs for the parts compatable with my machine?
Thanks in advance and have a great weekend everyone!
New Owner, can I do these upgrades?
Re: New Owner, can I do these upgrades?
1) Yes you can go up to 2 GB, when the model first came out there were no 1GB memory modules available, that why IBM says it can only support up to 1GB.elemental666 wrote:Hey gang, I just got an A31 (2652-M4U) here's what I wanna do, just wanna make sure it'll work before I plunk down the change...

2) Yes, running a 100GB 5400 Seagate myself.
3) Yes, that can both be done. Added Wireless (Intel 2200BG) myself you will have to add the antenna as well which requires a complete disassembly of the computer (really not that difficult). For ABG support you can use the new Atheros A/B/G II mini pci card (see http://www-131.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... Id=8770176).
Still working on bluetooth support, have parts on order.
You can also upgrade the processor up to 2.6GHz.
