T43 wont come out of sleep mode/hibernation

#1 Post by nrgetic01 » Sat Nov 05, 2005 8:39 pm

Every time I close the cover of my case or leave it on so it goes to sleep mode or hibernation it wont come out of it. The laptop screen stays black for about 15-20sec. and then it gives a windows error and reboots. Any ideas?

first, disable the auto reboot on error:

start > settings > control panel > system > advanced > startup and recovery

uncheck automatically restart

then show us what error you get

Same Problem

#3 Post by xenous » Tue Nov 08, 2005 3:45 pm

I'm having the same problem with two brand new T43's.
I called IBM's support and they were no help.
I learned that there is a new ATI driver from ATI's website but I could not get the driver to work. I have heard nothing good of ATI's drivers, (even from an ATI driver tester)! I am sure it is the ATI driver, which is causing the problem. If I come across a fix I will post!

It is the ATI driver. I updated the driver to some version (don't remember which) and my laptop crashed when coming out of sleep mode. Rolling back the driver to the previous version fixed it. Also, occasionally my computer fails to boot into Windows... I get to the Windows Loading screen, but it never comes out. I have to boot into safe mode, uninstall the ATI drivers, then reinstall them when I reboot. Problem then goes away for a while, but it pops up once or twice a month. My current driver from ATI is 6.14.10.6497 dated 11/30/2004. It recovers from sleep mode fine, but like I said, occasionally it causes Windows not to boot.
