Blank Screen

#1 Post by vincent martin » Sat Nov 05, 2005 11:16 pm

Computer now boots up with black screen after 2 secs of bright. Can toggle with Fn-F7 to a bright screen but again it only last for 2 sec then goes black.

When pressing in and releasing the little screen close button right next to ESC button the LCD screen will go bright for 2 sec and then black.

Can use external monitor but dont want to all the time.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I'm afraid you will need to read the sticky at the top of the forum about replacing the CCFL lamp in your LCD panel.

Before replacing the CCFL, is the screen completely black or VERY dim?

You might want to try checking the switch near the ESC button that you pressed, but from the inside, by removing the keyboard. Sometimes these switches break off, and your laptop will think that your lid is closed and that you are trying to use an external monitor.

Note about the CCFL: Not an easy task for the weak at heart.
