Software updater

#1 Post by dlichterman » Sun Nov 06, 2005 9:15 pm

Woot first post!!!

So I have a R50, great laptop. But I have noticed that when using the software updater, it has saved all the downloaded files and its taking up 1.5gigs on my hard drive. It should not hurt to delete them because the program shoud just be able to re-download them, correct?

Also, if you are reading this in thinking about buying a laptop, I have to say that "Active Protection" is the best thing since sliced bread....

Thanks,
Daniel

1. I am not sure the downloads take 1.5Gb. All the downloads for all the drivers and apps for my T41 take 265 Mb.
2. Yes, you can delete the downloads. But you can not always get them back, as often IBM keeps only current downloads. I always keep at least of couple of versions back in case I might need a prior driver.
3. If you haven't yet dropped your laptop on the floor while it is open and running (I have), you don't know the half of it :)

Yes it does :) I highlighter both and hit properties and its 1.4gigs.....I don't think I need the old stuff as everything has been fine. In response to dropping it.....I was tripped while it was in my hands in went down with it and it flew off my carseat when I slammed my brakes on.......I LOVE Active Protection
