Uh oh. No SXGA with V3200 card?

#1 Post by Whyme » Mon Nov 07, 2005 9:43 am

I'm returning my T43p with 15" UXGA and I'd like to get the same thing but with SXGA. However, I don't see it anywhere!!!

The closest I can find is one with the X300, not the V3200. I do a lot of animation work and presentations. I don't game at all. Is the x300 good enough?

Thanks!

I've been messing with all the font settings but some stuff still isn't right. I assume the SXGA will be a little better for my eyes.

For the fonts stuff, use the cleartype tuner of XP. It makes the fonts look smoother. Actually the UXGA display is awesome with large cleartype fonts. Or make them extra large if you wish.

If you are not using openGL, there is little or no performance difference between the X300 and the fireGL 3200.

I just ordered a replacement with SXGA. The only difference between the two is the resolution and video card. I'm pretty happy. I can't wait to get it!

It may be for some, no doubt. But I'm only working in Word, Outlook and Opera most of the time. The most important thing is readability. I'd probably the XGA if it had the Flexview. I like the larger fonts.

If you are not happy with the resolution, isn't it possible to reduce the resolution as is it were SXGA? If so, you would not need to return your current computer.

It is, but it would look like garbage. LCDs still don't run non-native resolutions very well, even with the latest anti-aliasing algorithms.

Unless you are saving a lot of money, the UXGA is still a better deal if you want flexview. It gives you more real estate. If fonts are an issue, make them bigger and use XP cleartype tuner as I mentioned before.

Else just get a normal T43 with SXGA+ ..... they are much less exp.
