Big performance difference between T43 and T43p?

#1 Post by Whyme » Mon Nov 07, 2005 10:57 am

I'm returning my T43P with UXGA because I'd like to get SXGA for my poor eyes. But I can't find one with SXGA.

I'd have to get a T43. Is there a big difference between the two as far as performance?

None.

The only big advantage is the screen and additional video memory.

I found the 2668-L3U with SXGA which is a T-43 that is almost exactly the same as my T-43p. The only difference is the video card. Plus, the L3U comes with an equally fast but larger hard drive! :P

I purchased my T43 before the T43p was available. I added the 7200rpm hard drive and an additional 512mb of memory. Except for the slightly faster video card which would only be useful for CAD, I have the same machine as the T43p. Check my signature for the model number. I'm not sure if it's still available as it was one of the first T43s released.

Most T43s lack the following in comparision to the T43p's:

* 9 cell battery
* 7200rpm drive
* UXGA for 15" displays
* fireGL graphics card

You can order a CTO T43 with the 1st two features or buy an equivalent express model. I got a CTO 2668AJU with SXGA+, a 9 cell and a 60GB 7200rpm drive.

On a different note: If you dont need to do CAD etc, there is little point in having a T43p and paying $500 more. You might as well get more memory and a larger 7200rpm drive if you have cash to spare.
