NEC ND-6650A DVD R/W drive comp with T40?

Hello guys,
Presently i have a CD R/W DVD ROM combo in my T40 that originally came from IBM but now i want to upgrade to NEC ND-6650A but i had few questions in my mind:
-- Is it compatible with T40
-- How would i install it....cause my CD/DVD is detachable right now,ya know how it comes with T40s
-- Anybody had any idea about this particular DVD burner drive? how is it and stuff.

If it is a ultraslim device, I think it could work with T40.

No, it is not compatible with the T4x series. It is 12.7 mm thick and the ultraslim devices are 9.5mm thick.

You can use it in an USB external enclosure like this one:

I'm currently using a NEC-ND6500A with this enclosure and it is an excellent burner.
