ThinkPad - Type 1611
Model - 26M.
OS - WinXP Pro.

Under System/Device Manager/Network Adapter, the only device listed is a Microsoft Loopback Adapter.

Attempting to connect to LAN unsuccesful.

Should there be another device or ethernet adapter listed (installed) under Device Manager, as my notebook as a network connection at the back.

Please help, thank you.
