Acronis True Image and IBM Images

#1 Post by DIGITALgimpus » Tue Nov 08, 2005 9:26 pm

I use Acronis True Image 8 to backup. The entire drive (service and user partition).

If I do a restore, does it restore the boot loader too? So I can press the Access IBM button on load and get to the service partition? Has anyone tried this?

I used the acronis 9 trial to do a disk clone. The f11 worked on the new drive (but I had other issues with my main partition that prevented booting).

There's also a "fix f11" download from IBM that you use to create a boot diskette that "recovers the F11 functionality" should it get messed up in the boot loader.

(I didnt try the backup-to-image method.)

1 Go into bios and make the service partition visible.
2 Make a complete hdrive image from boot cd.
3 Restore to a hdrive from boot cd.
4 In bios, make service partition invisible.
Don't try V9 now, it is very, very buggy.

For anyone looking for the Acronis 8 trial, I posted a link to the location on the Acronis website in a previous post, search for Acronis under my user name.
