Can A30 boot from Lexar USB Flash key

#1 Post by atng9 » Thu Nov 10, 2005 10:29 pm

I am new in this forum, so pls direct me to the right post if my question had been answered before.

I have an A30 and a Lexar 128MB USB key. I would like to know if it's possible to boot the A30 from Lexar USB key. If so, what are the steps I should follow to get this work.

Regards,

Thank you for your reply. I am just back from business trip so I try your solution today only. Unfortunately, It seems my bios on my ThinkPad A30 (Bios version 1.18) does not see the USB key somehow. I visited the IBM site and this is the latest Bios I could have for my laptop.

Could it be another reason?

Thanks

I used the HP USB bootable tool on the site mentioned and I have no trouble...in fact I have Ghost on mine so I boot up with mine to the Ghost program to clone my drive to one in my 2nd HDD adapter at least once a week. After I'm finished I can exit Ghost and it goes to a DOS prompt where I can do other things from the key. If I want, I can exit Ghost to begin with, without using this program and access FDISK or Format to deal with setting up a computer without an O.S., or even to install DOS drivers for non-bootable CD's on some computers that need installation of an O.S, but aren't set up to boot from a CD. This USB key also has tools on it that are used in Windows, so it's used there as well while still being bootable at the same time.

Hi wireless4laptop, I don't have this option in the setup. I do set the USB to enabled though. My Bios version is 1.18.

Thanks
